Who we are

Welcome to PCMS-HRG

We are the Pui Ching Middle School (Macau) Humanoid Robot Group — a student team that programmes and competes with autonomous humanoid robots.

Our robots have to do what a human player does: see the ball with their own cameras, work out where they are on the pitch, decide what to do next, and stay on their feet while doing it. No remote control, no external sensors, no adult driving from the sideline — every decision on the field comes from code the students wrote themselves.

In a single season the team went from unboxing its first robot to a fifth place at the RoboCup Humanoid Soccer League world finals in Incheon, a quarter-final finish at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, and a first place at the RCAP Asia-Pacific Beijing Masters.

Our two competition platforms

Team structure

Two Programme Lines

Two robot platforms, two classes of competition, one shared toolchain.

What we work on

Three Fronts

Autonomy & Control

Bipedal walking, kicking and getting back up after a fall — tuned on the real robot, not just in simulation. Behaviour trees drive striker and goalkeeper roles.

Perception & AI

YOLO-based detection of the ball, goals and other players, feeding self-localisation on the pitch and multi-robot coordination over the team network.

Sharing It Forward

Demonstrations for primary school students, festival performances and open learning notes — so the next intake starts from where we finished.

Support the team

Humanoid robotics sits at the meeting point of AI, control engineering, mechanical design and communications. We welcome partnerships with companies, universities and institutions — equipment support, engineer exchanges, joint projects and competition sponsorship all help Macau students reach further.
